Atta Tervete

Thursday, June 14, 2007

Today was our last day in Tervete. For the last 2 days, the kids have been alot more distant than before because they know that we will be leaving. They stay in their room more and laugh less. As I see them like this, I think of how many people have come and gone in their life. Are we just another group to come to them, love them, and then leave them?? As I think about the last 2 weeks, I don't believe we are. I have seen a definite change in the kids attitudes and life since we have been there. It is not what we have done but how God has used us to show His love to the kids. He has used our team in a tremendous way that I believe have greatly impacted these kids lives. I remind myself and the kids that although we are leaving, God will always be in Tervete and always be with them!!

As we get ready to load the bus, we hug and kiss all of the kids. I think they are more sad to see us go than we are to leave then. We tell them how special they are to God and to us. They are awsome kids!!! God has blessed me to be able to know them and love on them. I got the tightest hugs I had ever gotten. Their tears reflect their love and connection with our team.
I thank God for allowing the Buckner interns to serve alongside the Tate Springs Baptist Church group. They made the Tervete experience special. I thank God for the unity of the team both with the interns and Tate Springs group. They have inspired me and taught me alot.
As the Tate Springs group travel home to Dallas on Saturday, we interns travel to Jelgava. Please pray for us as we meet the kids and begin a new adventure with the Jelgava kids.
