Happy New Year

Tuesday, January 01, 2008

Happy New year to everyone!! We began 2008 7 hours before everyone else in the US. Andrew will tell about some more experience below but first I want to share a little.
This team is amazing!! I am so blessed to be able to serve with them. We have grown closer and gotten to know each other better through many experiences we have had. This trip has called for alot of flexibility!! (more than expected). The team has been flexible and willing to do whatever is needed to get things done. Last night a few of us had the opportunity to go to a Hungarian New Years eve party with some of the students from the church we were at on Sunday. The house was full of Hungarian students ranging from ages 14 -25. We had a great time meeting Hungarian believers and eating good food!! We played a game at the beginning to learn all the names. We all gathered in a circle and worshiped God through song. We sang in both Hungarian and English. It was an amazing time!!! We only have a few days left but much to do. Please keep us all in your prayers as well as the students we meet!!

Oh man is it cold here!!
Yesterday everyone got a little later start than usual. Most of the mornings we have breakfast at the Millers (They are the husband and wife that are taking us in and helping us do everything) We meet around 10 in the morning and have prayer and breakfast. Its always nice just to sit around and talk about what happened the day before and seeing all the ways God is working in our world. Breakfast is a normal American breakfast for the most part; eggs, toast, coffee, milk, orange juice. Anyway, we decided yesterday that we were going to go around the city and try to find people that spoke English and invite them to our coffee shop. One thing we didn't take into concideration is that it is New years Eve and most of the stores were closing. We ended up talking to aobut 10 poeple that spoke English and told them what we were doing. None of them showed up. Around 3:30 we decided that we had had enough so we went back to the hotel to get ready for the night. (it gets dark about 4). We met some kids at the church we went to the day before so at 6 half of the group went with them to a New Years Eve party. The other half went and set up for the coffee shop. Only a few people showed up for coffee last night becuase most of them were out doing other activities for New Years Eve. It was still worthwhile and everyone had a good time. We learned some new dances which was very intersting but very fun. Aroudn 11:15 we all went to the center of town for the countdown. They had a band and fireworks and tons of people. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. There was a steady downfall of snow and hardly any wind. After the countdown they sang the national anthem and had a firework show. The firework show was awesome becuase they played the song Halliluia in Hungarian and the fireworks went to the beat. Everyone went bak to the hotel afterwards and had a toast for the New Year. All in all the day went very good and we had some good conversations with people. Not sure what God has in store for today but it is always enexpected and wonderful.

In Christ's Love,
Andrew Pulley
